Sadly my father passed away on the 19th of October 2008, it is too painful to write much for now, but I just felt I had to write something to set in memory for all to see, hopefully as time passes I will be able to write more, but for now these few words are in his honour.

"Major General Karaszy-Kulin was one of the most highly-decorated officers in the Hungarian armed forces, and was revered as one of the heroes of the Second World War and of the 1956 uprising, in which his valour earned him the highest military distinctions. Upon the fall of communism in 1989 he was received by the Hungarian President and installed as the Grand Master of the International Knightly Order of St George, an ancient Hungarian order known for its charitable work. He held many chivalric distinctions and was a Knight Grand Cross of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus (Paris Obedience) and a Knight of the Order of the Vitez."

My father was honoured with becoming a Freeman of the City of London and was recognised as a Hero of the Hungarian People.

Memories of my father are of a man small in stature, but massive in personality in real life.

In the last 18 months I feel that I had come to understand just a little of my fathers life, which whilst growing up was never really discussed, he was always just my Dad, how I underestimated the "Just"!

Dad had these small idiosyncrasies that only a man who had been through everything he had could display, it made him all the more special, and I will cherish those memories forever.

He was the only person who could ever call me "Johnny" for no other man would or dare! To him it was an endearment that I will always fondly remember and I can still hear him in my mind answering the phone hello Johnny!

My Children Laura & Daniel can look back very proudly to have had such a Heroic Grandfather, whom they respected and admired.

If only I could become just a 1% of the man he was then I could hold my head up high.
